James Arnold Schroeder ,79, of Rochester, MN died peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Rochester.  He was born in Rochester, MN on September 27, 1945, to Arnold and Leola (Gerths) Schroeder. James graduated from John Marshall High School in 1963. After high school he studied at Mankato State University before joining the US Army on March 24, 1966, he was honorably discharged as a Quarter Master on March 23, 1972.

James returned home after serving his country to work on the family farm. Before retiring, he worked multiple jobs, with the final one being the store manager at Arrow Ace Hardware in Rochester, MN.

James married Linda Jarrett on September 29, 1995, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester.

Jim enjoyed his fishing trips up north and in Canada with his friends and family, reading, as well as working in his gardens. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester MN.

He is survived by his wife Linda (Jarrett) Schroeder; daughter Michelle (David) Donoho; sons Michael (Pam) Schroeder, and William (Shannon) Schroeder; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister Lois (Sally) Clobes; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Marlys Sass, and brother in laws Elmer Sass and Floyd Clobes.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester. The burial will in the Elgin Cemetery with Military Rites by the Elgin American Legion Post #573. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
