A memorial service for James Asleson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City with Rev. Dr. Scott T. Fiege officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Lake City at a later date.
Mr. Asleson, 52, of Winona and formerly of Lake City, died Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2014 with his family by his side, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Methodist Campus.
James Allen Asleson was born January 5, 1962 in Lake City to Luverne and Earlene (Martin) Asleson. He grew up in Lake City and attended school in Lake City and at Rochester Vo-Tech in Rochester. Jim worked as an auto mechanic at various auto body shops, and then worked at Ticona in Winona as an injection mold press operator. Jim loved riding his Harley Davidson, tinkering with cars and motorcycles, and going to car shows. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and spending time in the woods, and visiting with family and friends.
Jim is survived by mother, Earlene Asleson of Lake City; his children, Jessica (Jason) Cox of Lake City, Nicole Asleson Morphew of Ellsworth, WI, Katie Asleson Morphew of Chetek, WI, and Eric (Kristy) McConnell of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Cody, Lilly, Mercedes, Colton, Kenneth, Alexis, Paige, and Emma; a brother, David Asleson of Lake City; and a sister, Denielle Denzer of Las Cruces, NM; and very special friend, Terri McConnell. He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends and family may visit from Noon until time of service on Saturday, June 7th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the Lake City VFW. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
