James Matthew Walsh, 72, of Plainview passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Methodist Campus.
James was born June 12, 1942 in Rochester, to James and Stella (Pinion) Walsh. James grew up in the Lewiston area attending elementary and junior high in the Lewiston schools, he then attended Lourdes High School in Rochester graduating in 1960. On June 14, 1960 he entered the US Air Force to serve his country, getting an honorable discharge on December 6, 1961. James married Lily Ann Hamm on July 10, 1982 in Stewartville.
James worked as a truck driver, living in Chester, MN, Round Rock, TX, and moved to the Plainview area in 2002. He enjoyed repairing computers as a hobby. James was a member of the Plainview American Legion Post #179.
His aspirations in life were to rid Texas of as many fire ants as possible. While in Plainview he repaired computers for people to help them avoid being over charged for the repairs. He exceeded in both his aspirations. We love you and will miss you dearly. Your family.
James is survived by his wife Lily Ann Walsh of Plainview; two step-daughters, Lynn (Steve) Rankenburg of Millville, and Lonna (Jerry) Smith of Burnsville; two step-grandchildren, Ashley and Cody, and three great-granddaughters; one sister, Rosemary Newhouse; and two brothers, John (Candy) Walsh, and Steve Walsh. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 15th, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Plainview American Legion in Plainview.
