The funeral service for John O. Stadheim will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 810 3rd Avenue SE in Rochester with Pastor Norman Wahl officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Mr. Stadheim, 79, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Care Center in Lake City.

John O Stadheim was born September 22, 1937 to Louis and Evelyn (Hellie) Stadheim. He grew up in Bancroft Township on a farm with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Some of his fondest youth memories include his winning the Mower County Spring Barr Bourgh Show with his champion pig and his blue ribbon win at the Freeborn County Fair for his cow clipping. He and his brother David had two Percheron horses named Sonny and Sip, which he took pride in and enjoyed. He loved to dance, especially the Albert Lea shuffle and looked forward to school dances and the Terp Ballroom. In 1955 he graduated from Albert Lea High School.

John married Janis Pierson on August 17, 1957 at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. He was employed by IBM for 35 years as a machinist and later as a procurement engineer. John was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, where he enjoyed being an usher. They lived in Rochester for 44 years and then moved to Lake City Jewel Golf Course in 2003.

John was a contributor to the community as a landlord with a variety of properties through the years. On his free time, John enjoyed his family, traveling with his wife, golfing, bowling, snowmobiling, hunting, and his black Labrador Retrievers. He was especially gifted in the garden and his talent produced flowers that were visually appealing and produce that was flavorful at the table.

John is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Janis Stadheim of Lake City; two daughters, Julie (Ed) Idzorek of St. Louis Park, and Jennifer (Scott) Lucas of Rochester; and one son, Jason Stadheim (fiancé Terryll) of Lake City; 4 grandchildren, Jenna, Brianna, Katelyn, and Ricky; a sister, Annabelle Allen of California; and 3 brothers, Stanley (Babe) Stadheim, Arnold Stadheim, and David (Marilyn) Stadheim all of Albert Lea. He was preceded in his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 grandson, Joseph John.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
