John Harvey Weinrich's Obituary
The funeral service for John H. Weinrich will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Pastor John Curtiss officiating. Burial will be in Little Valley Cemetery in rural Plainview.
Mr. Weinrich, 84, of Plainview, and formerly of Wabasha, died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.
John Harvey Weinrich was born December 24, 1929 in Mower County, MN to Herbert and Susan (Clement) Weinrich. He attended rural Olmsted County Schools, and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1947. On November 11, 1951 he married Marjorie Peterson in Millville and was later divorced.
John lived his entire life time in Southeastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin areas. He farmed and did construction work, including his own business, Weinrich Bin Building. He also worked at Di-Acro, Meyer Machine, Gould Foundry, and delivered newspapers for several years. John was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha, NFO, FFA and 4-H groups. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union. John enjoyed reading, playing cards, and traveling. He especially loved to spend time visiting with his friends. He did not know a stranger for long, because he became his friend very soon.
John is survived by four sons, David Weinrich of Moorhead, Wayne (Rose) Weinrich of Aurora, CO, Alan (Vicki) Weinrich of Mondovi, WI, and Brian (Debbie) Weinrich of Alma, WI; two daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) Schear of Alexander, IA and Faye (James) Marcuson of Kenyon; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; one sister, Lenora "Polly" Messerschimdt of St. Charles, and one brother, Gerald (Barbara) Weinrich of Wabasha. He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, 3 sisters, Virginia (Gordon) Sorensen, Elva (Ray) Rexford, and Hazel (Alfred) Schleusner,1 brother, Herbert (Melva) Weinrich, 1 infant brother, and 1 infant sister.
Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2nd, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
