The funeral service for Joy L. Ohlhaber will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Florence Avenue, in rural Lake City, with Pastor Stephan Kurtzahn officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.

Mrs. Ohlhaber, 72, of Lake City, passed away Tuesday morning, February 21, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Hospital in Lake City.

Joy Lea Loppnow was born April 29, 1944 in Rochester, to Jonathon and Mabel (Holst) Loppnow. She attended school in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1962. Joy went on to Winona State University for a 1 year Business Secretary course. On July 22, 1972 she married Arlyn Ohlhaber at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. Joy and Arlyn lived in Rochester from 1972 to 1978 when they moved to rural Lake City.

Joy was employed by Prudential Life Insurance Company in Rochester for 32 years as Executive Secretary. She enjoyed spending time going dancing and shopping. Joy especially loved to clean and organize, enjoyed doing yardwork, and tending to her flowers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Joy had a very strong faith and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Joy is survived by her loving husband of almost 45 years, Arlyn Ohlhaber, a daughter, Melissa (Patrick) Ryan, a son, Mike Ohlhaber all of Lake City; and two granddaughters, Olivia and Avery. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Robert; and one sister, Maxine House.

Friends and family may visit from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred.
