Joyce Valora Plote, 80, of Lake City, passed away at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center in Lake City, on Thursday, May 14, 2020. She was born November 2, 1939 in Durand, WI to Henry and Julie (Severson) Hermundson. Joyce attended her early years of schooling in the rural Durand, Wisconsin area and then attended school in Wabasha, MN graduating from Wabasha High School in 1957.  After graduating from high school Joyce worked in Minneapolis as a secretary. On September 12, 1959 she married Robert Plote in Wabasha.

Joyce and Robert were blessed with two daughters. They lived in Wabasha, Lake City, and Rochester before moving back to Lake City in 2016.  She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, cross-stitching, watching TV-game shows, and going bowling, golfing, and trips to the casino and playing Bingo. Joyce was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Rochester.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 60+ years, Robert Plote of Lake City, two daughters, Brenda Plote of Lake City, and Renee (John) Vehrenkamp of St. Charles; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, a sister, Lorraine Becker of Buffalo City, WI, and two brothers, Ronnie Hermundson of Pepin, WI and Curt (Kathy) Hermundson of Wabasha.  She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Hiney Schuth, sister, Maxine, and two brothers, Merle and Dean.

A private family graveside service will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City, with Pastor Brian Kom officiating.
