June Lillian Levan's Obituary
The funeral service for June L. LeVan will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26th, at Peace United Methodist Church, rural Plainview/Elgin, with Pastor Deanna Woodward officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.
Mrs. LeVan, 85, of Elgin, died early Friday morning, March 21, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Methodist Campus.
June Lillian Liebenow was born January 7, 1929 in Elgin Township, Wabasha County, MN to Elmer and Cornelia (Engel) Liebenow. She grew up and lived in the Elgin area her entire life. June attended Forest Mound School in rural Wabasha County. Before her marriage she worked as a Nanny and Housekeeper in Rochester. On September 3, 1950 she married Verlynn LeVan at Grace United Church of Christ in Millville.
June was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family, loved cooking and baking, gardening, taking care of her lawn and riding the lawn mower. She enjoyed going fishing, dancing, playing cards, dominos, going to Dance Concerts, and entertaining her family and friends. Family birthdays were very special to June. She was in the Ladies Aid at Grace United Church of Christ in Millville, and belonged to a Sewing Club.
June is survived by her loving husband of over 63 years, Verlynn LeVan of Elgin; three children, Steven (Peggy)LeVan, Gary (Susie) LeVan, and Susan (Lynn) Bennett all of Elgin; nine grandchildren, Jason (Audrey) LeVan, Jeff LeVan and friend MacKenzie, Becky (Dustin) Wehrs, Bryan Bennett and friend Whitney, Kelly Bennett and friend Kyle, Camy (Brian) Iverson, Carie Dittrich and friend Craig, Brooks (Barb) Graner, and Travis (Holly) Graner; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene (Fred Jr.) Ohm of Elgin; and two sister-in-laws, Corrine Liebenow and Phyllis Liebenow both of Elgin. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Gene, two brothers, Paul and Hugh, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Wednesday.
