Obituary

Karen Sue Peterson, 65, of Plainview, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 8, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Saint Marys Campus. She was born June 22, 1956, in Rochester to Alfred and Ida (Petersen) Rollie. Karen attended school in West Concord and Plainview graduating in 1974 from Plainview Community Schools. On May 31, 1975, she married Robert "Bob" Peterson at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview.

Karen lived most of her adult life in the Plainview area. She was employed by High Plains Cooperative in Plainview for many years. Karen volunteered at Camp Companion in Rochester and served on the Plainview Ambulance Service for several years. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, and canning the produce from her garden for her family to enjoy. She also was active in dog rescuing, enjoyed making dandelion wine, and celebrated by family, and close friends, for her many flavors of moonshine.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Robert "Bob" Peterson of Plainview; son, Robert "Robby" Peterson of Plainview; daughter, Kimberly "Kim" (Neil) Yarolimek of Theilman; three grandchildren, Aliyah, Dalton, and Hope, sister Kathryn "Kathy" Newman of Mabel, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Shayne, and two brothers, John, and Fred.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel with Pastor Chuck Coggins officiating. Burial will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Friends and family may visit from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
