Karen Louise Schumacher, 74, of Lake City, passed away early Saturday morning, August 14, 2021, at her son's home in rural Lake City with her family by her side. She was born April 9, 1947, in Wabasha County to Orville and Louise (Lamb) Meyer.  She attended school in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965.  On May 2, 1969, she married Rollie Schumacher in Rochester above the Hollywood Bar.

Karen began her working career as a court transcriptionist. In 1987 she went to work for Dr. Christopher McGregor, a heart transplant surgeon, at Mayo Clinic, and continued working for Mayo Clinic for the rest of her working career, retiring in 2014, and continued to work part time with Dr. McGregor up until earlier this year.

Karen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln. She enjoyed spending her free time collecting antiques and glassware, going on road trips, looking for gas signs with Rollie, and gardening.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Rollie Schumacher of Lake City; four sons, Travis (Chet) of Byron, Trevor of Zumbro Falls, Tristin of Lake City, and Trinity (Kevin) of Oakdale. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Schleicher Funeral Home, Lake City Chapel on Sunday, August 22nd from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.  A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Gillford Cemetery in rural Lake City.
