Katie enjoyed being a homemaker as well as an assistant to her husband in his business ventures.  She belonged to bridge and bible study groups. A lifelong interest in history and genealogy led to her travels to Norway and developed friendships with many cousins that have been maintained for decades.

She enjoyed her flower gardens, feeding birds, attending concerts and play, traveling, visiting friends and family, welcoming guests to her home, and hosting a weekly Domino game group.  In 2017 Katie and brother, Paul were honored as Wabasha Outstanding Senior Citizens.

She is survived by son Dan Schmidt and daughter Constance Anderson, brother Paul Meyer, sister- in-law Evelyn  (Russell) Meyer, all of Lake City, three grandchildren- Laura ( Royal) Johnson and Karsten Anderson of Rochester and Jennifer (Brian) Schumacher of Zumbro Falls, MN., four great grandchildren- R.J. and Layla Johnson and Harold and Henry Schumacher.  She also was fond of numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
