Kristine "Kris" Rae Wright, 60, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Mayo Clinic – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.  She was born on May 23, 1963, in Mason City, IA to Harold and Ruth (Smidt) Ouverson. Kris attended school in Iowa and graduated from Forest City High School. She went on to attend the Minnesota Bible College in Rochester graduating in 1985 and then attended Winona State University graduating with a degree in nursing in 1988. Kris obtained her master's degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota in 1995. Kris married the love of her life Paul Wright on October 23, 2010, at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing.

Kris dedicated her life to nursing, she worked as a nurse at Mayo Clinic in Rochester in the Pediatric Oncology Department. She then taught nursing at the Minnesota State College SE in Red Wing for many years. She was a member of the Honor Society of Nursing. Kris was a member of the Church of Christ in Plainview.

Kris is survived by her loving husband, Paul Wright of Lake City; her two brothers, Terry (Margaret Mitchell) Ouverson of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and Michael (Nancy) Ouverson of Worthington, IA; and her in-laws, Walter and Phyllis Wright of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, at the Church of Christ in Plainview with Pastor Bob Blanshan officiating. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church.
