Larry Davis, 78, of Plainview and formerly of Kellogg, died Sunday June 29, 2014, at St. Elizabeths Medical Center Hospital in Wabasha. Mr. Davis wishes were to be cremated, a Masonic Service open to the public will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3rd, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, with visitation from 3:00 p.m. until time of the service.

Larry Everett Davis was born December 30, 1935 at home to Bonner and Willma (Remus) Davis in Hobart, IN. He graduated from Stewartville High School in 1953 in Stewartville, MN. He married Carol Ann Franks on July 24, 1954 at Rochester. Larry served in the National Guard at Rochester from 1954 to 1960.

Larry worked for the Franklin Station Power Plant in Rochester from March 13, 1956 to September 13, 1959. At that time he moved his family to Champlin, MN and went to work for Rural Cooperative Power Association at Elk River where he became a Necular Reactor Operator. In 1966 he went to work for Electric Machinery out of Minneapolis as a field service engineer. In 1969 he accepted a job with General Electric as a field service engineer. In 1971 he took a teaching job at Anoka Vocational School in Anoka, MN. He set up and taught the course on power plants (Building Maintenance and Power Plants). It was the first one in the State of Minnesota, and several were patterned after Mr. Davis' course. In 1975 he was hired by Austin Utilities in Austin, MN as Director of Power Production. This included both of the Austin power plants and all of the Water Department. In 1993 he was made Superintendent of Austin Utilities. Mr. Davis retired on September 30, 1998. He also served on the S.M.M.P.A. Board.

Larry joined the Anoka Lodge #30 A.F.&A.M. in Anoka, MN he was initiated March 19, 1963, passed on April 23, 1963, and raised on May 7, 1963. He transferred his membership to Austin and became the Worshipped Master there. Larry was a member of the Osman Shriners, also Scottish Rites, and Fidelity Lodge #39 A.F.&A.M. of which he is a past master and 32 Degree Mason. On Sept 3, 2013 he received his 50 year Masonic Pin at Austin. He was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Unity #29 in Austin, being a past patron there. Honorary member of Jobs Daughter of Albert Lea, Larry is a past Associate Bethel Guardian of Jobs Daughters of Anoka, Austin, and Albert Lea a member of (SASS) Single Shooting Society #25497, his alias is Handle Bar Dan. Larry served on the on the Greenfield Township Board while living in the Kellogg area. In 2012 they moved to Plainview.

Larry loved going fishing, hunting, camping, flying, playing golf, sewing with leather, and cowboy single action shooting.

Larry is survived by his wife Carol Ann, his children Lou Ann (Dean) Archambault, Cheryl Robin-Ann Riggle, Nick Everett (Kimberly) Davis; 4 grandson, Peter and Ben Archambault, Kyle and Blake Davis, one granddaughter, Renae Riggle; 3 great-granddaughters and 2 great grandsons; sisters, Nancy Wilson, Bonny Meyers, Darlene Sellers; and brothers, Bonner Davis II, and Gregory Davis.

Memorials are preferred to the family or to Minnesota Masons Home.
