Lawrence "Larry" Francis Stevens, 72 of Elgin, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. He was born on October 5, 1950, in Hammond to William and Camilla (Murray) Stevens. Larry attended school in the Rochester area and attended Winona Vo-Tech College & University for three years. On October 16, 1971, he married the love of his life Sherelan Duncan at Hammond.

They lived in the Elgin area since 1972 where they raised their two sons. Larry worked as a machinist in the Rochester area for many years. He enjoyed playing poker on Fridays, blackberry brandy, playing pool, and socializing with family and friends. Larry loved watching TV especially the old Westerns, Wheel of Fortune, and Price Is Right, and loved spending time with his grand dog "Lummox". Larry was a former member of the Rochester Moose Lodge.

Larry is survived by his two sons, Robert "Rob" Stevens of Rochester, and Shane (Tina) Stevens of Duluth; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Joy Sweet of Byron, Cheryl Keller of Rochester, Michele (Kevin) Tlougan of Plainview and Nonie (John) Arleth of Rochester; and one brother, Ron (Rhonda Anderson) Stevens of Wabasha. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sherelan on November 29, 2004, two brothers, Robert and Terry, and two sisters, Marilyn and Barbara.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel with Pastor Bob Blanshan officiating, burial following the service at the Elgin Cemetery. Friends and family may visit one hour (12noon – 1:00 p.m.) prior to the service at the funeral home.
