The memorial service for Leonard "Lenny" E. Kahn, Jr. will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, with Pastor Terrill Bramstedt officiating.
Mr. Kahn, 60, of Elgin died Thursday, February 20, 2014 as the result of a traffic accident on MN 42 South of Plainview.
Leonard Emil Kahn, Jr. was born October 23, 1953 in Olmsted County to Leonard and Arline (Miller) Kahn, Sr. He attended rural Wabasha County Schools and graduated from Elgin High School in 1971. Lenny served in the US Army in 1973. On December 15, 1985 he married Cynthia Durgin and they later divorced.
Lenny was a lifetime Elgin/Plainview area resident. He was employed by Matt Sell as a farm laborer for 15 years. Lenny then owned Kahn Siding and Construction for many years. He built his own home in 2013 with the assistance of his son's and friends. Lenny enjoyed going fishing, motorcycling, attending auctions, and collecting antiques.
Lenny is survived by his companion, Deana Hermstad of Pine Island; four sons, Henry and Richard Kahn of Sartell; Cory and Matthew Kahn of Pine Island; one grand-daughter, Ashlynn; three brothers, Bruce (Marcella) Kahn of Plainview, James (Donna) Kahn and Jerry (Doris) Kahn both of Rochester; two sisters, Diane (William) Pugh of Plainview, and Karen (Arthur) Hoffman of Theilman; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; two aunts, Doris Mickow and June Ratz; and one uncle Lyman Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26th, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to the family.
