Lloyd Alfred Blattner, 84, of Millville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 18, 2021. He was born on July 28, 1936, at home in Millville the son of Alfred and Bertha (Shones) Blattner.
Lloyd attended school in the Millville area and graduated from Elgin High School in 1955. He was drafted in the US Army and served his country from 1959 – 1961. He married Kathleen Donlinger on October 21, 1961 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in West Albany. They were married for 59 years. They made their home in rural Millville and were blessed with three children and five grandchildren.
Lloyd spent over 40 years working in construction running large equipment and farming. He was also a bartender for the Lower Bar in Millville for many years and loved to play cards and attend farm auctions. The most important part of Lloyd's life was his family and when he retired, he enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports. At home he really enjoyed watching game shows. His son Mike and family will also be forever grateful to Dad for dependable driving and buying produce at the auctions, and helping to plant and pick vegetables for Produce Plus over the years. Lloyd was a member of the Millville Valley American Legion Post 579, the US Army Reserve MP Unit in Rochester, and the 49er's Union.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Kay; children, Michelle (Pete) Blattner of Eyota, Michael (Kristi) Blattner of Eyota, and Marcia (James) Hartman of Rochester; five grandchildren, Derrik Hartman, Ryan (Marit) Hartman, Brett Blattner, Brandi Blattner, and Blake Blattner; a brother Don (Sandra) Blattner of Hastings; and several nieces and nephews. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Geraldine Krueger, and a brother, Milton Blattner.
A walk-through visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church. The private Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, St. Patrick's Catholic Church – West Albany in rural Millville, with Deacon David Dose officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery with Military Rites by the Millville Valley Legion Post 579. Masks and social distancing are required for all services.
