Loren Carter Howe, 69, of Lake City, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, September 12, 2020. He was born August 2, 1951 in Eau Claire, to Frank and Niada (Zank) Howe. Loren grew up in Wisconsin and attended elementary school in Ettrick, and high school at Gale – Ettrick Public Schools in Galesville. He then attended the National Institute for Automotive Excellence and was certified in La Crosse. In 1970 he married Charmaine Kumfermane and was later divorced in 1975, and out of that union a son Frank was born. On April 21, 1978 he married the love of his life Ann King in Lake City.
Loren moved to Lake City in the spring of 1978, where he owned and operated the Phillips 66 Gas Station; Loren's Auto Repair; and then worked for Bang's Auto. He then worked for 20 years at Federal Mogul in Lake City retiring in 2014. Loren enjoyed woodworking and gardening both flowers and vegetables for his family to enjoy.
Loren is survived by his son, Frank Howe of Ft. Dodge, IA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his brother, Larry (Elizabeth) Howe, Sr. of Lake City; and his sister, Lois Hall of Bloomer, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann in 2003; a son, Bill; two brothers, Lester and Leonard; and one sister, Lucille.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel. Masks are required and please practice COVID-19 rules of social distancing. A private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Lake City.
