The funeral service for Lucille J. Hartz will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24th, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake City, with Pastor David Badgley officiating. Burial will be in the Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City.

Mrs. Hartz, 76, of Lake City, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 as the result of an accident while wintering in Orange County, TX.

Lucille Jane Grotjohn was born July 11, 1937 in Worthington to John and Gladys Grotjohn. She attended school in Worthington graduating from Worthington High School, and then went on to Morningside College in Sioux Falls, SD. On August 3, 1962 she married Robert Hartz at Mission Baptist Church in Worthington. They moved to Lake City in 1963 and have made their home here ever since, spending their winters in Texas after they retired.

Lucille worked as a Librarian at the Lake City Library for a few years, and after her children were born she worked as a full time Mom and Farm Wife. She loved her gardening and flowers, and enjoyed watching the birds and animals. Lucille was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake City.

Lucille is survived by her loving husband of over 51 years, Robert Hartz; a daughter, Jane Hartz and a son, Robert Hartz all of Lake City; one sister, Linda (Dallas) Marr of Magnolia, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Lyle Grotjohn and Louis Grotjohn.

Friends and family may visit from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23rd, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Monday.
