Obituary

Lucille Mary Poeppel, 81, of Plainview, passed Saturday morning, August 13, 2022, at her home in Plainview. She was born December 25, 1940, in Spring Valley to Charles and Amy (Smith) Hare. She attended school in Spring Valley graduating from Spring Valley High School in 1960. On October 14, 1961, she married Stewart Poeppel in Plainview.

After graduating from high school Lucille was employed by Mayo Clinic as a dietician at St. Mary's Hospital, and later at a nursing home in Rochester. They moved to the Montgomery area where she managed a turkey farm. After they moved to Plainview Lucille was employed with Lakeside Foods for 15 years. Lucille lived her entire lifetime in Southeast and Central Minnesota. She is a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Plainview and was a former member of the Assembly of God Church in Plainview.

Lucille is survived by three daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Rausch of Plainview, Pamela (Gerald LaCanne) Porras of Lake City, and Teressann Swain of Owatonna; two sons, Brian Poeppel of Kenyon, and Jody Poeppel of Plainview; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one on the way, and ten step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Raymond (Gladys) Hare of Mountain Home, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Peggy Sue, five sisters, and eight brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel with Pastor Lief Crooks officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
