The funeral service for Madeline V. Hart will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1100 37th Street NW in Rochester, with Pastor Bradley Booth officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Island Cemetery in Pine Island.
Mrs. Hart, 102, of Plainview and formerly of Elgin and Potsdam, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 1, 2017 at the Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview.
Madeline Vivian Bovee was born October 27, 1915 in Parker, SD to Paul J. and Mae (McIntosh) Bovee. She moved with her family to Minnesota at a young age and attended elementary school in Dodge Center, and graduated from Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson. While in high school Madeline worked in the Book Binding Department of the Academy. She married Donald Hart on October 29, 1939 in a double wedding with her sister Irlene and Elmer Schauer in Rochester.
The Hart's farmed for many years in the Rochester and Elgin Area. Don and Madeline enjoyed spending winters in California where they were able to be near their daughters and families.
Her faith was a very important part of her life, she taught Sabbath School classes for many years at her church. Madeline enjoyed reading, especially religious books, visiting people in the nursing home, and writing letters to family and friends. Madeline loved music and enjoyed playing both the piano and organ.
Madeline is survived by her children, La Donna Headley of San Jancito, CA, Luana (Edwin) Harlan of Nampa ID, Reginald (Marie) Hart and Ralph (Diane) Hart both of Elgin; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and two brothers.
Friends and family may visit from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Rochester.
