The memorial service for Marcia A. Knudsen will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, at First Lutheran Church, 100 Peace Ridge in Lake City with Pastor Tim Ehling and Pastor Duane Holst officiating. Inurnment will be in the First Lutheran Columbarium.
Mrs. Knudsen, 83, of Lake City, passed away early Saturday morning, January 14, 2017 at her home in Lake City.
Marcia Ann Leader was born August 26, 1933 in Frankfort, Indiana to Hubert and Dorothy (Milner) Leader. She attended elementary school in Bedford, Indiana and graduated from high school in Frankfort, in 1951. Marcia went on to attend Purdue University in Lafayette. On December 27, 1953 she married Alan Knudsen in Geetingsville, Indiana.
In 1956 the Knudsen's moved to Lake City where Marcia assisted her husband Dr. Alan N. Knudsen in his Veterinary Practice for many years. Marcia also bred, raised, and showed Dogs for 25 plus years, including a trip to the Westminster Dog Show.
Marcia enjoyed playing golf, cards, games, and doing puzzles. She also loved to spend time quilting, and reading. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and was active in Bible Study, and the First Lutheran Quilters. Marcia was also served as President of American Field Service (Exchange Students) Program.
Marcia is survived by her children, Dr. Scott (Beth) Knudsen of Lake City, Lori Knudsen (Jim) Myers of Winter Park, CO, and Johanna (Dr. Keith) Berge of Rochester; six grandchildren, Lindsey Myers and Kelsi (Casey) Wilkins, Steven and Michelle Knudsen, Nick (Erin) Berge and Jennifer (Jack) Kalyuzhny; six great-grandchildren, Finley, Oliver, Callum, Henry, Daria, and Peyton; three sisters, Janet Reed of Lake City, Judy (Don Uglow) Roth of Lafayette, IN, and Sharon (Joe) Northcutt of Greentown, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, and step-father.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, at First Lutheran Church in Lake City and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials are preferred
