The funeral service for Marian L. Evans will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, at
Peace United Methodist Church, rural Plainview/Elgin, with Pastor Cheryl Nymann officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.
Marian Lucille Evans, 93, of Plainview, passed away Tuesday morning, September 18, 2018 at her home in Plainview. She was born May 31, 1925 in Swea City, IA to Russell and Lulu (Yates) Hutchison. She moved to Minnesota with her family and attended school in St. Charles graduating in 1943, and then attended St. Charles Normal Teachers Training in 1944. On July 7, 1945 she married Wayne "Pat" Evans at Weaver United Methodist Church.
Marian taught school for 3 years, then went to work at Winona Industry for 23 years, and then at Herff-Jones Photography for 10 years retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Weaver United Methodist Church in Weaver, Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, and Royal Neighbors of America. Marian enjoyed embroidering, playing cards, and reading. She looked forward to visits from all of her family.
Marian is survived by her children, Nancy (Robert) Sommerfield of Zumbro Falls, Patricia (Kenneth) Heaser of Minneiska, Peggy (Steven) Wallerich of Geneva, MN, Sam (Kathy) Evans of Plainview, and Steve (Laurie) Evans of Weaver; 13 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucy Severson of Arkansaw, WI and Mildred Ogle of Plainview; and a brother, Kenneth Hutchison of Winona. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, son Jackie, four brothers, and one sister.
Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
