Marian Alberta Hoffman, 91, of Elgin, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at her home in Elgin. She was born on August 10, 1933, in Rochester to Emil and Mable (Wanke) Miller. Marian grew up attending District 78 Olmsted County School through 6th grade and graduated from Rochester Central High School in 1951. She went on to attend beauty school.
On August 29, 1953, she married the love of her life Norman Hoffman in Potsdam. They farmed in the rural Potsdam area for many years raising their children, Nanette, Kevin, and Tom. In 1987 they moved to Elgin.
Marian enjoyed working alongside her husband on the farm and raising her children. She continued to cut hair for family and friends over the years. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She belonged to a Sewing Club for the local farm wives meeting monthly for 70 years. Marian was an active member of the American Legion in Elgin, Minnesota for many years. She loved putting together jigsaw puzzles and many were so beautiful that they were framed.
Marian was a lifelong, faithful member of Potsdam Immanuel Lutheran Church for 91 years - - she was baptized, confirmed, married, and now her funeral and burial. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid Group.
Marian's survived by her children, Nanette (Gary Parker) Christenson of Rochester, Kevin (Doreen) Hoffman and Tom (Janeen) Hoffman, both of Elgin; six grandchildren, Kyle and Kory (Caitlyn) Christenson, Justin (Heather), Tabitha, and Brian Hoffman, and Shane Hoffman; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Isaac Hoffman and Mataya and Moriel Christenson. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
The funeral service for Marian will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Potsdam in rural Elgin with Pastor Dean Zemple officiating. The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday, May 9 at the church.
