Obituary

Marlyn Leroy Mattison passed away peacefully after a short battle with lymphoma and leukemia at his home on Lake Zumbro on Saturday, July 17, 2021, with his life partner of 40 years by his side. Marlyn was born January 13, 1933, in rural Plummer, Minnesota to Christ Mattison and Esther Hoole Mattison. He attended school in Plummer.

Marlyn worked as a truck driver during his working years. Driving semi's over-the-road and road construction. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to go deer and turkey hunting, and in his later years he enjoyed fishing off his deck at home on Lake Zumbro.

Marlyn is survived by his life partner, Marlys Stensgard of Zumbro Falls, a son Randy (Kim) Mattison and daughter Kimberly Mattison of Springfield, MO, and daughter Loni (Brian Kegley) Hedtke of Waconia; four grandchildren, Krist, Colton, Cayman, and Joseph; a sister Beverly Terhark of Eau Claire, WI, and two brothers, Willis Mattison of Osage, MN, and Gary Mattison of Rochester; sister-in-law Carol (Einar) Kvasager of Oklee, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gene, and Roger.

Friends and family may visit from noon until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel. A Prayer Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Krista Strum officiating. Burial will be at the Finnish Cemetery in Plummer, MN on Monday, July 26 at 3:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life following at the American Legion in Plummer.

Memorials are preferred to the Leukemia – Lymphoma Society or the charity of your choice.
