Mary Catherine Ann Purdy was born March 12, 1952 in Wabasha, to Wilmer and Mary Ann (Freese) Reck. She passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at her home in Lake City.

Mary attended the Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City. She went on to obtain her a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. She married Gary Schlichting and they had three children, Brent, Chad, and Melissa, they were later divorced. In December of 1994 she married Joe Purdy in Rochester. Mary was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City.

Mary is survived by her husband, Joe Purdy of Lake City; one son, Chad (Stephanie) Schlichting of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Melissa Schlichting of Lake City; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Therese (John) Bezdichek of St. Louis, MO, Joan (James) Hoisington and Jean (Steve) Struckmann of Rochester; and one brother, Peter (Wendy) Reck of Spring Valley, MN. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Brent on September 2, 2012.

Mary wished for her body to be cremated, and the family may plan services for a later date.
