The funeral service for Mary Anne Dankers will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 24, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Jason Kern officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lake City.

Mary Anne Dankers, 90, of Lake City passed away Wednesday evening, December 19, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center.  She was born May 11, 1928 in Hammond to Mathias and Mary Maglena (Hofschulte) Kohn.  She attended rural Wabasha County Schools and St. Felix High School in Wabasha.  On May 9, 1945 she was married to Frederick "Fritz" Dankers, Jr. at West Albany.

The Dankers farmed in rural Lake City after their marriage and moved into Lake City in the late 1940's.  Mary work at various places in the community.  Mary Anne enjoyed quilting, gardening and canning the produce she raised and baking for her family.  She also enjoyed refinishing furniture and watching her grandchildren.  Mary Anne was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Dwight (Jeanne) Dankers of Frontenac, William (Linda) Dankers of Red Wing, Linda (Alvin) Meincke of Lake City, Shannon (Ken) Nickelsen of Lake City, Cindy (Bill) Arnold of Frontenac, Shane (Gayle) Dankers of Lake City, and Randy (Eva) Dankers of Wabasha; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alvina Tiedeman of Lake City, Olivia Funke of Rochester, and Anna Mae Darcy of Mazeppa; and a brother, Joe Kohn of Lake City.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Dean Nickelsen, four sisters, and one brother.

Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
