The funeral service for Mary A. Fuchs, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, with Father Joseph Pete officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lake City at a later date.

Mrs. Fuchs, 86, of Lake City, passed away early Friday morning, January 27, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.

Mary Ann Magnuson was born April 19, 1930 in Pilot Mound Township, Fillmore County, to Melvin and Olga (Hanson) Magnuson. She attended Houston County Country Schools. On April 8, 1950 she married William George Fuchs in Wabasha.

Mary worked at Café 61 in Wabasha before her marriage. After her marriage she worked as a waitress and hostess at area restaurants, including Maple Springs, Anchor Inn, Harbor House, Port of Call, and Pepin Inn all in Lake City. After retiring from waitress work Mary worked at Wild Wings in Lake City for 20 years in many different positions.

Mary was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, where she had taught Catechism for many years, and served on the funeral committee. She loved to make quilts, and has made a quilt for all of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts. Mary loved to golf and was a member at the Lake City Country Club where she held the title of "Club Champion" back in the 1990's, she also had a "hole in one". Mary also enjoyed bowling, playing Bridge and other card games.

Mary is survived by her children, William "Bill" (Maureen) Fuchs of Bloomington, Steve (Mary) Fuchs of Anoka, Peggy (Larry) Van Houten, James (Diane) Fuchs, Joseph Fuchs, Mary Kay (Dale) Sprick, and John (Janey) Fuchs all of Lake City; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; 2 sisters, Lyla McDonough of Wabasha, and Maxine Petrich of Clover Dale, Calif.; 2 brothers, Robert Magnuson of Red Wing, Melvin (Darlene) Magnuson of Wabasha. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Thomas James Fuchs, and 1 sister, Kay Rostvold.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Memorials are preferred to; Lake City Care Center, St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Mayo Clinic Palliative Care, Mayo Hospice, or St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.
