The funeral service for Mary A. Johnson will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21st at Peace United Methodist Church in rural Plainview/Elgin, with Pastor Cooper Wiggen officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.

Mrs. Johnson, 102, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.

Mary Augusta Rollins was born September 13, 1912 in Elroy, WI to John and Anna (Staudacher) Rollins. She attended rural Wabasha County School in the Hoosier Ridge area. On December 24, 1941 she married Arvid Johnson in Plainview.

Mary was a homemaker and lived most of her lifetime in the Plainview area. She was an avid spectator of all sports, especially those of her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and doing counted cross stitch. Mary loved to play Bridge, and other card games, as well as playing golf, and traveling. Mary and Arvid were selected as Sesquicentennial King and Queen for the Plainview celebration in 2006; and they were former King and Queen of the Plainview Corn on the Cob Celebration.

Mary was a member of Peace United Methodist Church, of Plainview/Elgin, and a member of the UMW. She was also a member of the Wabasha County Extension Group, Secretary of the Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary; American Legion Auxiliary.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Joe) Carter of Madison, WI, and Kathryn (Ken) Dickinson of Gold Canyon, AZ; a son, Dr. Robert (Bonnie) Johnson of Eden Prairie; six grandchildren, Mike and Andy Dickinson, Brandon and Brett Johnson, Kelly Carter Turner, and Brian Carter; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Leonard, and her husband Arvid on January 14, 2007.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and on Saturday at the Church one hour prior to the service. Memorial are preferred.
