Mary Ann Wurst, 93, of Plainview, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Green Prairie Place Assisted Living in Plainview. She was born on September 1, 1931, in Lanesboro, Minnesota to Alvin and Golda Gilbertson. She grew up attending country school and graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1949. Mary Ann went on to attend Winona Teachers College and obtained her bachelor's degree in education. On July 18, 1959, she married Herbert Wurst in Lanesboro, Minnesota.

After their marriage the Wurst's lived in the Plainview, Minnesota area. Mary Ann taught at area schools for many years, and then worked at Lark Toys in Kellogg, Minnesota after retiring from teaching.

Mary Ann was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin and a member of the Women's Guild. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Mary Ann's survived by her loving husband of 65+ years, Herbert Wurst, a daughter Kari Jane Wurst, two sons, Karl (Jolene) Wurst and Kraig (Jenny) Wurst all of Plainview; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Kaleb, Abigail, Callie, Violet, Vincent, Vienna, and Vale; and one great-grandchild, Thea. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Orrin and Maynard, and a grandson, Justin Wurst.

The funeral service for Mary Ann will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin with Pastor Josh Moldenhauer officiating. The burial will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
