The Memorial Service for MaryLou Carlson will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Duane Holst and Pastor Louise Stromberg co- officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Lake City.
Mrs. Carlson, 92, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the care center of Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Lake City.
MaryLou Carlson was born June 20, 1922 in Redwing, MN to Herman and Marie (Reitmann) Johnson. She attended and graduated from Red Wing High School. On August 18, 1944 she married Francis Roy Carlson in Red Wing. The couple lived in Lake City since 1945.
MaryLou was a member of First Lutheran Church, VFW Post #8729 Auxiliary, WELCA (First Lutheran Church) Lois Unit, and served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan and enjoyed playing cards. She was also an avid reader and a Campfire leader.
MaryLou is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Blake) Shelton of Plymouth; one son, Bruce (Jody) Carlson of Lake City; five grandchildren: Christine (Ron) Elliott, Scott Shelton, Katie (Ian) Karow, Michelle Carlson and Lisa Carlson; two great-grandchildren: Aaron and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of almost 70 years, Francis, and one brother, Lee Johnson.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church.
