The funeral service for Melva Wiebusch will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Nathan Cordes officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.

Melva Jean Wiebusch, 87, of Lake City, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 at her home in Lake City.  She was born at home on May 25, 1932 in Chester Township, Wabasha County, to Reinhart and Helen (Betcher) Miller.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City, and attended Rural Country School.  On June 25, 1954 she married Fritz Wiebusch at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City.

Melva and Fritz farmed in rural Lake City, she also raised and butchered chickens for 30 years.  Melva also was employed at the Jewel Nursey for 32 years.  Later Melva was a kitchen assistant at Bluffview Elementary School, where she was known as the "Lunch Lady".  Melva also loved to can the vegetables, baking for her family, and made grit-wurst.  She loved attending auctions, always arriving one hour early and taking a front-row seat.  She enjoyed going on gambling buses with her friends.  Melva was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church and of the Lake City VFW Auxiliary.

Melva is survived by her 3 children, Sheri (Vince) Sexton of Millville, Connie (Craig) Atkinson and Steven Wiebusch both of Lake City; 7 grandchildren, Sarah, Katie, Staci, Robert, Lance, Jake, and Ashley; and 7 great-grandchildren, Emily, Ashley, Parker, Sidney, Ethan, Julia, and Roger; siblings, Leland Miller of Hager City, Delaine (Donald) Klein of Lake City, and Nancy Johnson of Burnsville.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Mary Ann, Winifred, Diane, and Judith, and brothers, Arvid, Willard, her twin brother Melvin, Haven, and Baby Miller.

Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, September 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, and at the church on Thursday from Noon until the time of service.
