Michael Wayne McMullen, 68, of Rochester and formerly of Lake City, Wabasha, and Red Wing areas, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Red Wing Health Center in Red Wing.
Michael was born February 17, 1946 in Austin, MN to Julian and Florence (Thomas) McMullen. He grew up and attended school in Austin. On July 18, 1963 he joined the US Navy serving until his honorable discharge on January 13, 1967 in Brooklyn, NY. On April 6, 1968 he married Rosalee Priebe in Belvidere, IL; she died August 9, 2000.
Michael lived in the Lake City, Red Wing, and Wabasha areas since 1969. He worked for various trucking companies until purchasing his own truck in 1986, retiring in 2002. Michael moved to Rochester 4 ½ years ago, and just recently to the Red Wing Health Center. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Michael enjoyed going fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, and boating until his health prevented him from doing the things he loved to do.
Michael is survived by his two sons, Michael Scott McMullen of Red Wing and Matthew (Kimberly) McMullen of Plainview; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Sandra Lee (Ralph) Howard of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister.
Michael's wishes were to be cremated with a graveside service at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City on Saturday, April 5th, at 11:00 a.m. with Military Rites by the Lake City American Legion Post #110 and Lake City VFW Post #8729.
