The memorial service for Milo H. Peterson will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin with Pastor Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Tuesday, February 28 at 10:00 a.m. with Military Honors.

Mr. Peterson, 83, of Elgin passed away on Saturday morning, February 11, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.

Milo Harlan Peterson was born November 28, 1933 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Oliver and Marie (Rud) Peterson. He started school at District #52 in rural Detroit Lakes and then completed his elementary education at Washington Elementary School and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1952. Milo served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On July 2, 1961 he married Lorraine Pieper in Clara City, MN.

Milo furthered his education at American Institute of the Air-Brown, and North Dakota State University graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. Milo owned Elgin Rexall Pharmacy Drug Store from 1963 to the late 1970's, prior to that he was at White Drug in Grand Rapids, MN. He also worked at Peterson Snyder Drug in Plainview for several years.

Milo was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin where he also sang in the choir. He enjoyed spending time golfing, singing in the Rochester Male Chorus as well as at weddings and funerals. He served as Master of Ceremonies at many community functions for decades. He also served on the Elgin-Millville School Board for many years. Milo was a member of the American Legion and the Elgin Lions.

Milo is survived by his wife, Lorraine Peterson; two daughters, Gretchen (Patrick Nutter) Peterson of Eagan, and Andrea (Michael) Thein of Buffalo, MN; a son, Jeffrey Peterson of St. Paul; 4 grandchildren, Anthony, Addison, Spencer, and Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leo.

Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, at the church.
