The funeral service for Milton J. Blattner will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Pastor Scott Hirssig officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview with Military Rites by the Plainview American Legion Post #179 and Wabasha VFW Post #4086.

Mr. Blattner, 83, of Plainview, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester.

Milton John Blattner was born October 13, 1930 in Sauk Centre. He attended school in Millville and lived there for 10 years before moving to Elgin where he attended Wabasha County District #77 school, and lived with his foster parents, John and Josie Schuchard. Milton served his country in the US Navy from August 30, 1950 until his honorable discharge on May 29, 1954. On June 5, 1953 he married Isabell Rademacher in St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City.

Milton worked for Gillette and Eaton for three years before going back to farming in the Weaver and Conception area for 45 years, retiring in 1996 and moving to Plainview. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, and the Plainview American Legion and Wabasha VFW where he was a lifetime member.

Milton is survived by his wife Isabell Blattner of Plainview; three daughters, Nancy (Bryon) Walch – Carlson, Donna (Jim) Schneider "Emma & Wubsy", and Pat Hassig all of Plainview; one son-in-law, John Stenglein of Arden Hills; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Blattner of Hastings, and Lloyd Blattner of Millville; and one sister, Geraldine Kruger of Millville. He was preceded in death by one son, James, and one daughter, Gloria, two brothers, Harold and Francis, and one sister, Myrtie Trudeau.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday.
