Obituary

Morgan Wesley Roland met His Savior face to face on December 1, 2015. He died peacefully at home after he went to bed. He fell asleep in Rochester and woke up in heaven. We believe with all our hearts that he is adding his high tenor voice to the heavenly choir.
Morgan was born on June 1, 1922, on the family farm near South Troy, Minnesota. He attended Red School near South Troy for eight years. After graduating from Rochester High School in 1942, he farmed in the Zumbro Falls area until 1958.
He met his future wife, Evelyn Hermann, at South Troy Wesleyan Methodist Church where both their families attended. He married Evelyn on June 2, 1944. They had an amazing 71 years together! They raised four children: Harlan (Ianthe) Hermann of Apple Valley, Janet (Donald) Thune of Brooklyn Park, Joanne Krueger (engaged to Roger Brumm) of Stacyville, Iowa, and Woody (Susan) Roland of Rochester.
Morgan and Evelyn have eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Pearl Whipple of Zumbro Falls, Della (Francis) Fey of Utica, Ruth Sheets of Menifee, California, and brother Phillip (Janet) Roland of Lake City. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He worked at IBM from 1957 until he retired in 1987. He loved singing gospel quartet music with his life-long friends. Morgan was a private pilot, avid gardener and skilled woodworker.
The funeral service will be held at Oak Hills Wesleyan Church, 410 28th Street SW, Rochester, MN, 55902, at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 5, 2015, with Pastor Woody Roland officiating. Burial will be in Dale Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in rural Zumbro Falls.
