Myles Scott "Swede" Ostrom, age 82, of Lightwood Lane in Hartwell, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Piedmont Athens Reginal Medical Center.
Myles was born May 31, 1938, in Reads Landing, Minnesota, to Oscar and Hilda (Holmes) Ostrom, Sr. He graduated from Wabasha High School and Winona State College.
Myles served two tours with the U.S. Army. The first with the 384 th Army Band and the second with the 544 th Ordinance Co., during the Bay of Pigs Crisis. He was an avid trombonist, playing throughout high school, college, military service and with several area bands including Suillman Brothers and Jerry Gilbertson's Orchestra.
Myles joined Ford Motor Company in January 1965, and married Patricia Powell in June 1965, and Darcy Maixner in December 1986. Following 32 years of service with Ford, he retired in March 1996. Post retirement activities included Ford Dealership consulting, three years with Richard Petty Driving Experience and countless hours pursing his hobby of vehicle restoration and building and driving his beloved street rods. In addition to music and automobiles, Myles enjoyed boating, Nascar, professional sports, RV travel and physical fitness.
Myles is survived by his wife, Darcy, daughter, Kelli Caffey (husband Curt), grandchildren, Nicholas, Gabriel, Austen, Hayden, and Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Reed Scott Ostrom, and brother Oscar Phillip Ostrom, Jr.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Wabasha with Pastor Bob Blanshan officiating.
