Nancy (Carlson) Shelton, 67, of Plymouth, passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 14, 2015 at her home in Plymouth surrounded by her husband, children, brother, and sister-in-law, after a brief battle with cancer.

Nancy Marie Carlson was born January 9, 1948 in Lake City to Francis R. and MaryLou (Johnson) Carlson. She grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1966. While in high school, Nancy was involved in the music program at school, was in the band, was a cheerleader and active in Camp Fire Girls. She was also an organist at First Lutheran and the United Methodist Church in Lake City. She went on to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter obtaining her B.A. in Nursing in 1970.

On January 31, 1970 she married Blake Shelton at the First Lutheran Church in Lake City. The Shelton's made their home in Plymouth, where Nancy worked for Health Partners as a Registered Nurse for 40 years.

Nancy enjoyed music and accompanied the Wayzata Elementary String Orchestra for eleven years. She also took great pride in her flower gardens, photography, and making greeting cards. Nancy also enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Ten Mile Lake.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Blake Shelton of Plymouth; their two children, Christine (Ron Elliot) Lakatos of Grand Prairie, TX, and Scott Shelton of St. Louis Park; two grandchildren, Aaron Lakatos and Hannah Lakatos; and her brother, Bruce (Jody) Carlson of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and MaryLou.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26th, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Avenue South in Minneapolis, with Pastor Craig Johnson officiating. The visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. at the Church. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27th, at Oakwood Cemetery, off of Marion Street, in Lake City with Pastor Duane Holst officiating.
