Neil Dean Weaver, 91, of Plainview, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview. He was born on February 10, 1934, in Hancock County, Ohio to Walter and Leora (Ebersole) Weaver. He grew up in Ohio attending school in Arcadia and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1951. He went on to attend Alma College in Alma, Michigan and Michigan State receiving an associate degree. On September 8, 1962, he married Darrell Dee France in Cheboygan, Michigan.
The Weaver's moved to Minnesota and in 1973 he started Lindsay Soft Water with Don Lee in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1974 Weaver's moved to Plainview and Neil started the ABA Water Systems in 1986 in Plainview.
Neil was very active in the Plainview community serving on the City Council from 1994 to 2003 and was elected as Mayor of Plainview in 2003 and served two terms. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Plainview Lions and PADCO. Neil served on the SE Minnesota Initiative Fund as a board member, was a faithful Democrat Party supporter, a faithful Chrysler Auto Company supporter, a fan of Ohio State teams and Woody Hayes. Neil was featured with his picture on the Wheaties Cereal boxes many years ago. He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Plainview/Elgin.
Neil is survived by his wife, Darrell "Dar" Weaver of Plainview; his daughter Holly (Jeff) Irish and son Tim (Cindy) Weaver both of Plainview; five grandchildren, John, Leah, Ethan, Evan, and Aidan; six great-grandchildren, Emery, Grace, Jack, Grant, Ben, and Griffin; sister, Martha Zoe Williams of Arcadia, Ohio and a brother, Arvid Weaver of Findlay, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary, brother-in-law Tom, sister-in-law Joanne, and his beloved standard poodle, Prince.
The memorial service for Neil will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Plainview/Elgin with Pastor Krista Henning-Ferkin and Pastor Dick Hegal officiating. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
