The funeral service for Nellie "Kay" Singbusch will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2577 Schaeffer Lane NE, in Rochester with Pastor Chris Harper and Pastor Chuck Coggins officiating.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.

Nellie "Kay" Singbusch, 85, of Rochester and formerly of Plainview, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 5, 2019 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester.  She was born June 17, 1933 in Muster, IN to Jacob and Pearl (Roskamp) Kortenhoeven.  She attended school at Illiana Christian graduating in 1951 and then went on to receive her Registered Nursing Degree from Michael Reese Hospital in 1956.  In 1998 Kay obtained her B.A. degree from Calvin College/Concordia.  On October 26, 1956 she married James Singbusch in South Holland, IL.

After their marriage they lived in Waterloo, IA, La Porte, IN and Niles, MI before moving to Plainview in 1978.  Kay was employed as a Register Nurse from 1956 to 2003, working in the various hospitals in the communities where they lived.  Her last position was a Parish Nurse for 5 years.  Kay was also employed by the Plainview News while living in Plainview.

Kay was a former member of the Church of Christ in Plainview, and currently a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Rochester.  She also was a member of Nurses Christina Fellowship, Faith in Action, Book Club, and volunteered at Hospice, Faith in Action, and her churches.  She enjoyed spending time reading, writing, and music.

Kay is survived by three sons, Michael (Carolyn) Singbusch of Oneonta, NY, Paul (Susan) Singbusch of San Diego, CA and Richard (Candy) Singbusch of Rochester; Granddaughters, Amy Frost, Hope Gonsalves, and Lily Singbusch; and brothers, John Kortenhoeven of Bellflower, CA and Paul Kortenhoeven of Colorado Springs, CO.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Frank, and sisters, Mary Groenwold, and Helen Kortenhoeven.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
