Obituary

The funeral service for Neva Prescher will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin with Pastor Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Burial will follow in the Elgin Cemetery.

Mrs. Prescher, 99, of Plainview and formerly of Elgin, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie.

Neva Elaine Dunn was born February 23, 1916 in Dawson County, Montana to George and Josephine (Gusa) Dunn. She spent most of her lifetime in the Elgin area and attended the Elgin Public Schools. On July 25, 1934 she married Carl Prescher in Elgin, he died October 9, 1965.

Neva was employed by Elgin State Bank/Elgin – Millville Bank/Eastwood Bank for 43 years and served as a bank director for 16 years. She also served on the Elgin City Council for 16 years, and for many years served as an Election Judge. Neva was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin where she served as a former Chair Person of the Wedding Committee.

Neva is survived by a daughter, Audrey Bornholdt of Eyota; 11 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 46 great-great-grandchildren; niece Alice Ann Molengraaf; and nephew Dennis Dunn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Nadine Zabel, one brother, one great-granddaughter, Tashina; one granddaughter, Judy; and special friends, Lenny Wieczorek and Ben Bien.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
