The funeral service for Norman J. Kruger will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, with Pastor Nathaniel Schwartz and Pastor Robert A. Lentz officiating.  Burial will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.

Norman Joseph Kruger, 97, of Rochester, and formerly of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Season's Hospice in Rochester.  He was born April 23, 1921 in Willow Lake, SD the 3 ^rd of 9 children of Peter and Elsie (Senst) Kruger.  After the 8 ^th grade he continued to work on the family farm.  In September, 1943 he enlisted in the US Navy for 3years and was discharged in March of 1946.  On December 14, 1947 he married Evelyn Ernst at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin.

Norman owned and operated Kruger Welding in Plainview from 1950 – 1986, and worked many years for Schleicher Funeral Homes before retiring.  He was a Master Woodworker, loved golfing and fishing.  He was also very active in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview and served as an Elder and Usher, and was also a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester.  Norman had served as President of the Plainview Community School Board in past years.

Norman is survived by his children, Marilyn (Robert) Zygmunt of Wayzata, Russ (Kathy) Kruger of Spring Park, Chuck (Julie) Kruger of St. Cloud, Bill (Stephanie) Kruger of Eden Prairie, and Bruce (Kelly) Kruger of Oronoco; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Otto Kruger of Neptune, NJ.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn of 70 years, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and 1 grandson.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
