Obituary

The memorial service for Norman J. Peterson will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 2815 57th Street NW in Rochester, with Rev. Howard Reinschmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin with military rites by the Elgin American Legion.

Mr. Peterson, 69, of Rochester, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at his home in Rochester.

Norman John Peterson was born May 31, 1946 in Rochester to John and Daisy (Roerish) Peterson. He grew up in Rochester and attended Holmes & Jefferson Schools, and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1964. Norman served his country in the US Army from December 13, 1965 to November 27, 1967. He married Judy Olsen on November 9, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin.

After their marriage Norman and Judy lived in Elgin for 2 years, and then moved to Rochester. Norman worked at Crenlo in Rochester from 1968 to 1974 and then at Pace Dairy from 1974 -2008. He was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church.

Norman enjoyed going fishing and hunting, playing games, traveling, doing yard work and spending time with his grandkids. He also loved fattening up Rochester's birds, squirrels and rabbits. He also raised pigeons.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Judy Peterson of Rochester; two sons, Eric (Lara) Peterson and Scott (Tammy) Peterson both of Rochester; and one daughter, Kari Peterson of Elgin; six grandchildren, Brittany, Izaac, Janieci, Anysia, Alex, and Nicole; and one great-grandchild, Zayla. He was preceded in in death by his parents.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes, on the corner of 18th Avenue & 55th Street NW, in Rochester, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
