Orville "Zeke" Wellslager, 79, of Lake City suddenly passed away at his home in Lake City on Saturday, January 31, 2015.
Orville M. Wellslager, Jr. was born September 7, 1935 in Raleigh, NC to Orville and Marie (Whittle) Wellslager, Sr. He attended Ramsey and Washburn High Schools in Minneapolis. He served his country in the US Navy from July 19, 1954 to July 9, 1957. He then went on to the University of Minnesota and obtained his Bachelor's Degree in 1960. Zeke married Jeanean Zimmer on September 13, 1958 in LaCrosse, WI.
Zeke was employed in Economic Development in North Carolina, Iowa, Minnesota, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, and retired in 1990 to Minnesota. While living in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina he served as the Administrator of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Zeke enjoyed spending his time carving, and was one of the founders of the Lake City Carving Club. He was also a very active member of the Lake City Kiwanis Club and the Mason's. He was currently a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lake City.
Zeke is survived by his loving wife, Jeanean Wellslager of Lake City; one daughter, Karla (Tony) DelGenis of Gainesville, VA; one son, Matthew (Deborah) Wellslager of Irmo, SC; and one granddaughter, Bridgette. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Zeke was cremated and a Private Family Burial will be held at a later date. The family prefers memorials.
