The funeral service for R. Allan Funk will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6th, at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester, with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Burial will be in St. Clements Catholic Cemetery in Hammond.
Mr. Funk, 86, of Rochester, passed away early Sunday morning, March 1, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.
Richard Allan Funk was born August 3, 1928 in Rochester to Arthur and Evelyn (Grimm) Funk. His early years of schooling were in Hammond and he graduated from Rochester High School in 1945. Allan then went on to the University of Minnesota to obtain a BA Degree in Business Administration. He served in the US Army during the Korean War in the Quartermasters Group from December 1950 to December 1952. Allan married Jean Michaud on October 16, 1954 at the Church of the Incarnation in Minneapolis.
Allan was an accountant for Honeywell and Univac and lived in the Twin Cities from 1954 to 1964, and then moved to Plymouth Meeting, PA in 1966 the Funk's moved to Norristown, PA and lived there for 10 years. In 1978 they moved to Tustin CA for 19 years, and in 1997 they moved to Rochester. Allan moved to Madonna Towers in November of 2014.
Allan was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester, where he attended daily Mass for many years. He enjoyed spending time gardening.
Allan is survived by his daughter, Mary (Frederick) Sam of Wilkes-Barre, PA; sons, James Funk of Rochester, and Stephen (Cindy) Funk of Gaithersburg, MD; 8 grandchildren; a sister, Judi, (Rick) Lee of Rochester, and a brother, David (Michele) Funk of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean on January 7, 2012, and a sister, Elaine.
Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Church on Friday.
Memorials are preferred to Madonna Towers.
