Ralph William Lichtblau, 80, died on April 15, 2018, at Mayo Health Care Center in Lake City.
He was born on September 17, 1937, to William and Almina (Schumann) Lichtblau. He attended Lake City High School (grades 9-11) and Wabasha High School (grade 12), graduating in 1955. From 1956-57, Ralph served in the United States Navy, stationed in Japan. On January 9, 1960 he married Carol Jean Hinrichs in Red Wing. They made their home in Lake City. He started working for Hans Peters Construction in 1959 and continued for 30+ years. Ralph then worked several years for Hagedorn Recycling in Lake City. He retired in 1999 due to poor health from MS. Ralph was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the VFW post. He enjoyed farming and woodworking. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and the rest of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Dawn Freese of Apple Valley, son, Bruce (Lori) of Lake City; six grandchildren; one sister, Millie (Jim) Auge of Cottage Grove; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters (Adelle Volner, Pat Dohrn), and brother-in-law, Rollie Dohrn and one nephew.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, 4-7 PM at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 19, 2:00 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church. Memorials preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church.
