On August 5, 2018, Ralph Alfred Wise, 63, of Dumfries, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and friends, after a long battle with multiple illnesses.   He was born in Lake City on February 7, 1955 to Sally and Jerry Wise.  He attended school in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972, and then enlisted in the Navy.    On September 2, 1994 he married the love of his life, Janet Thorson in Lake City.

Ralph was a self-employed carpenter.  He was an avid outdoorsmen, and his outdoor passions were fishing, horseback riding, and duck hunting.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Janet Wise; his mother, Sally Wise; siblings, Betty (Cary) Nygaard, Jeremiah (Patrick Hamper), Mike (Vickie) Wise; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many friends and extended family members.  He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wise, and brother, Patrick Wise.

Visitation will be held at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, on Friday, August 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date.
