Robert James Seidlitz, 90, of Plainview, died Saturday, June 14, at Green Prairie in Plainview, Minnesota.

Robert was born October 12, 1929, in Winona, MN to Elmer and Gladys (Trusty) Seidlitz and moved to Rochester shortly thereafter. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1949. He married Betty Walker on October 8, 1950, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester.

After their marriage, they moved to Charleston SC while Robert served in the US Navy. Upon his discharge, they returned to Rochester for fourteen years and eventually settled in rural Elgin, where they farmed and operated Lynnhaven Antiques. Robert spent most of his career working as an operating engineer for Rochester Public Schools and then for Ability Building Community. He was involved in scouting, 4-H, and historic preservation. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hiking on Isle Royale, playing the card game Skip Bo and other games, and watching the MN Twins and Vikings games. He will be greatly missed.

Robert is survived by three children, Linda (Ron) Stevenson of Spring Branch, TX, Brenda (Eldon) Malwitz of rural Elgin, and Donna Schreader of Rochester, a son-in-law Craig Beighley; eight grandchildren: Staci Stevenson, Amy Stevenson, Jacob (Chad Weaver) Malwitz, Sara (Mitch) Walch, Evan Malwitz, Justin (Jolene) Schreader, Trent (Kait) Beighley , Cally (David) Murphy; 8 great-grandchildren; Brayden Stevenson, Isaac, Elias, and Ethan Walch, William and Leah Schreader, Levi and Alayna Murphy; a sister, Helen Roedecker of Bloomington, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Seidlitz, their daughter, Carla Beighley, his parents, his brother-in-law Allen Roedecker, and sister and brother-in-law's Jean & Allen Larson and Marjorie & Arlan Wilson.

A private family funeral service will be held for Robert at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, officiated by Pastor Dale Kohrs. Burial will occur at Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, MN.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
