Robert "Bob" Joseph Meyer, 78, of Lake City, Minnesota passed away at his home in Lake City on Monday, July 4, 2016.
Bob was born October 9, 1937 in New Hampton, Iowa to John and Nona (Ames) Meyer. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School in Ionia,Iowa and Sacred Heart High School in Oelwein,Iowa.
While living in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Bob owned Tel-Star Communications Centers a voice mail and paging service. After retiring he moved to Lake City, Minnesota where he was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and served as a Sacristan for many years. Bob was a frequent volunteer at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center. He also wintered in Punta Gorda, Florida for several years.
Bob loved to go boating on Lake Pepin, and truly loved dogs, especially walking his dog, Tiny, in the Lake City community. He enjoyed going to family gatherings and reunions back in his home state of Iowa.
Bob is survived by his sister, Kathryn "Kathy" Morning of North Liberty, Iowa and brother, Roger J. (Penny) Meyer of Dubuque, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Frank) Fang, Christine Morning, Jason (Kim) Meyer, and John C. (Evelyn) Morning; and his Boston terrier, Tiny who was his faithful companion and Best Friend.
As per Bob's wishes he will be cremated.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Bob on Thursday, July 28, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 419 West Lyon Avenue in Lake City with Father Joseph Pete officiating.
A Memorial Mass will also be held on Saturday, August 20, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, IA with Father Dellaert officiating. Burial will follow this service at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Ionia.
Memorials are preferred.
