The memorial service for Robert V. Sweet will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Pastor Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin with military rites by the Plainview and Elgin American Legion Posts.

Mr. Sweet, 54, of Elgin passed away at his home on Monday, July 27, 2015.

Robert Van Sweet was born August 18, 1960 in Zumbrota to Myron and Joy (Stevens) Sweet. He attended school in Rochester, graduating from John Marshall in 1979, and then he served in the US Marines. Robert lived in Chatfield for a few years and then moved to Elgin 20 years ago.

Robert was employed by Strongwell Industries in Chatfield for 28 years from 1984 to 2012. Currently he was employed by Med City Taxi in Rochester. Robert enjoyed spending time outdoors trout fishing, and canoeing, he also enjoyed spending time woodworking.

Robert is survived by his two daughters, Kari (Nicholas) Marquardt of Green Lake, WI and Bonnie Kostel of Sugar Hill, GA; his mother, Joy Sweet of Elgin; two brothers, Curtiss (Kathi) Sweet of Kasson and Rick Sweet of Byron. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father.

Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday, July 31, at the funeral home.
