The memorial service for Rollo "Ron" L. Horsman will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22nd, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Pastor Chuck Coggins officiating.

Mr. Horsman, 94, of Elgin died early Saturday morning, February 15, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha.

Rollo Lester Horsman was born September 29, 1919 in Preston, MN to Robert H. and Otella (Holets) Horsman. He attended rural Dodge County Schools and Byron High School in Byron. Rollo then worked in Construction for two years before he enlisted in the US Army on November 1, 1941 at Fort Snelling. He served his country as a Sergeant in the 139 7th Combat Construction Engineer in Hawaii, Okinawa and Siepan. He was honorably discharged on October 21, 1945 at Camp McCoy, WI. In 1947 he married Margaret Adler and they later divorced. On August 3, 1961 he married Mary Jackson in Preston; she died June 5, 1998.

After his return from service Rollo owned and operated The Sunken Haven Ballroom from 1947 to 1953. He then worked for 19 years at Kepp Construction in Rochester, retiring at age 62. In 1974 they moved to Elgin. Rollo then went to work for Badger Sewer, Water, and Telephone until retiring again after a few years. From 1989 to 2009 he worked at Elgin – Millville High School, a job he truly loved being around all of the young people every day. Rollo enjoyed going fishing, listening to music and going dancing, and playing cards. He loved watching the Minnesota Twins, and taking walks through town and visiting with his friends. Rollo was a member of the Elgin American Legion.

Rollo is survived by his four daughters, Kitty (George) Grubb and Elizabeth Reed both of Rochester, Patty (Rick) Engler of Menomonie, WI, and Pauline Peterson of Elgin; three sons, Ron (Janice Horsman of Zumbrota, Mike (DeAnn) Horsman of Mazeppa, and Dan (Sheila) Scrabeck of Rochester; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, one daughter, Angela, one grandson, Anthony, six brothers, and one sister.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, February 22nd, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview. Family prefers Memorials to St. Croix Hospice.
